After finishing my coin project I wanted to continue with another example of "perpetual motion". I thought back to times spent talking on a landline and how I felt I could just endlessly twirl the cord and I thought it would be an interesting movement to try and capture in animation. Little did I know the cord would prove to be an extremely challenging shape to animate!
Once I had the idea I went through some small design changes before settling the final version. I went back and forth on whether to have some hearts coming from the earpiece of the phone, but once I had finished the phone and hand animation I felt the composition was a bit unbalanced without something happening on the upper left. It also adds a nice storytelling element!
